You can call them biscuit nirvana or “crack” biscuits.  Either way, they will be among the best biscuits you will ever eat!  But you must serve them right out of the oven for optimal effects!

1 stick (1/2 cup) salted butter*, melted
2  1/2 c. all-purpose flour
1  1/2 T.  granulated sugar
1  1/2 T. baking powder
1  3/4 c.  buttermilk

*NOTE:  If you need to use unsalted butter, mix in 1 t. salt to the melted butter

Preheat oven to 450F degrees
Spray 8″x 8″ pan with cooking spray

Pour melted butter in pan
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar and baking powder

Pour in the buttermilk and stir until a loose dough forms

Pour biscuit dough into baking dish (right on top of the melted butter)
Spread dough out to edges of pan with your hands

If some of the butter runs over the top of the dough, that’s ok

Take a knife and score dough halfway down into thirds each way

Bake for about 22-25 minutes, rotating dish once during baking
Biscuits should be golden brown on top and spring back to the touch

Be sure to time it so you can serve these biscuits right out of the oven
