My grand kids love corn dogs.  So I thought I would try them from scratch and found they are really good and easy!  Note that there is no salt in the batter since there is plenty of salt in the hot dogs.

1 pkg. hot dogs of your choice

1 c. (120 g.) flour
1 c. (140 g.) corn meal
2 T. sugar
1 egg. slightly beaten
1/2 t. baking powder
1 c. milk

canola or peanut oil for deep frying

Heat your oil to 350 degrees
Place hot dogs on paper towels, and blot dry

In a bowl, mix together batter ingredients until a smooth batter is formed
Completely submerge 2 hot dogs in the batter
Lift one end and let some of the batter drip off
Carefully place in hot oil and repeat with the second corn dog
Fry 1-2 minutes on each side until medium brown all over
Drain on paper towels

Run a skewer through the hot dog and cut the end of the skewer if it sticks out over 3″ from hot dog
Serve with condiments
